The Sirens of Titan
Mankind, ignorant of the truths that lie within every human being, looked outward–pushed ever outward.
What a story.
I don’t think we will be finding out the answer for the meaning of our lives anytime soon. If there is, probably it is bigger than us. But one must wonder, what it will be like…
In that sense, this story was really, really amusing. All the dramas. All the sufferings. All the laughs and cries. And for what?
On a similar note, I was also playing with the idea of determinism, and realized how liberating that it. If it is “all written” or controlled, then it means we are completely free. Free to do anything. You could interpret it in the completely unsocial, wrong way, but in general, I think the message is very positive…
The ending is dark, perhaps even silly, but with nice aftertaste. I liked it.
Go ahead, pick up this book, and scratch your head. 🙂
If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, Skip, there’s no sense in trying to explain it to you.
